Conventional bench system: This system is the best known and applied in Hydroponics. These are linear benches usually 6 or 12 meters long, average width of 1.80 meters, height of 1.00 containing 9 profiles per bench.
The slope of these benches varies between 5 and 8% on average.
Characteristic: Easy project sizing. It is adapted to any region of the country (Brazil), has a greater number of corridors to assess vegetables, allows individual reservoirs to be installed per bench or a single reservoir for the entire system, according to what the producer chooses.
Warning: Not recommended for benches with a width greater than 1.80M. It makes it difficult to handle and harvest vegetables. The recommended length is also a maximum of 12 meters because we can ensure greater stability in the oxygenation and flow of the solution.
Bench system and mobile profiles or MGS: This system is very well known as a mobile profile system, it is easy to handle, where the profile is removed from the bench for harvesting, cleaning and replenishment. The average length of the profiles is 2.80 to 3.30 meters for easy handling. The width of the benches is according to the space inside the greenhouse, usually divided into 3-meter modules. This system is widely used in greenhouses with a width of 7 to 8 meters, optimizing the spaces, having only one central corridor in the center of the greenhouse.
The slope of these benches varies between 8 and 10% on average.
Characteristics: Less movement for plant management, easy to move profiles, lower risk of contamination, better management of the synchronism of crop cycles and fewer corridors inside the greenhouse. It usually has one reservoir per line of benches, except the nursery, with an exclusive reservoir.
Attention: We do not recommend profiles greater than 3.30M, it makes it difficult to manage and ergonomics upon harvesting (overweight).
Overlapping bench system or 2 story: Widely known as a 2-story bench system, it has two levels of profiles usually 6 and 12 meters long and 1.80 meters wide at the bottom and 1 meter at the top. At the top, the profiles have the same length as the bottom, but with a maximum of 4 lines dedicated to nurseries or spices, with greater spacing between them. This is to allow the light required at the bottom of the bench to pass through.
The lower part usually has 9 profiles, the same standard as conventional countertops.
This type of bench is widely used in regions with higher solar intensity, North and Northeast of the country.
Features: Better space optimization, productivity per m², less displacement and easier to handle.
Attention: Check the type of cultivation to be applied at the bench levels. Independent reservoirs may be required for each type of cultivars. It is important to take into account the light intensity of your region. It must be a region with high solar intensity.
